Role Overview

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a full-time Senior Customer Service Representative to join their Optum team. The role involves managing between 50 to 70 calls daily, addressing patient billing inquiries, processing payments, handling adjustments and refunds, and resolving complex billing issues. The position includes on-the-job training for six weeks and requires working flexible hours during specified Eastern Standard Time (EST) shifts. This remote opportunity also supports acting as a subject matter expert for team members while upholding HIPAA and compliance regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in customer service, healthcare call centers, or medical office settings.
  • Familiarity with Windows PC applications and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Flexibility to work designated training and operational hours (Monday – Friday).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous healthcare experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with medical terminology and billing/finance processes.
  • Ability to simplify complex healthcare processes for customers.

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Secure work area with information privacy.
  • Access to UnitedHealth Group-approved high-speed internet.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong listening and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and provide compassionate customer service.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $16.88 to $33.22, influenced by factors such as local labor market conditions, education, work experience, and certifications.
