
Role Overview
Penn Foster High School is seeking a full-time Science Teacher who will provide academic support to high school students learning remotely. This position involves student interaction via phone, email, live chat, and text. The teacher will hold virtual office hours, conduct student appointments, develop webinars, and collaborate with team members on various initiatives to enhance learning outcomes. This is a year-round role that can be performed fully remotely, with Penn Foster supplying the necessary equipment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a science discipline
- State-issued teaching certification in a science discipline (Biology preferred)
- At least two years of teaching and/or tutoring experience
- Reliable high-speed internet access
- Proficiency with computers and willingness to learn new systems
- Strong time management skills
- Familiarity with online learning and instructional design
- Ability to apply technology effectively in instruction
- Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation
- Compassion for distance learners
- Motivation to support both students and colleagues
- Demonstrated work ethic
- Preferred
- Experience working with at-risk students
- Ability to communicate quickly and efficiently
- Enjoys collaborative team environments
- Experience in fast-paced or customer-service settings
- Background with private, for-profit high schools or postsecondary institutions
- Experience in online instruction and/or education services management
