Dutch Pet, Inc. is seeking a part-time veterinarian to join its telemedicine platform, focusing on evening and weekend coverage. In this position, licensed veterinarians deliver remote consultations and medical guidance to pet owners through secure video calls and phone communications. Candidates will build the veterinarian–client–patient relationship by reviewing each patient’s medical history, evaluating pertinent health data, and applying clinical judgment to determine whether a prescription is medically appropriate. All responsibilities are carried out from a desktop computer—eliminating travel—while adhering to rigorous standards of patient welfare. Veterinarians are expected to obtain informed consent, maintain accurate medical records in compliance with state and federal regulations, and follow accepted telemedicine practices under medical director supervision.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
- Active veterinary license in good standing with at least one U.S. state’s medical board
- Minimum of three years of post-graduate experience as a licensed veterinarian
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong medical-writing skills for patient-focused communications
- Ability to follow telemedicine best practices, including securing informed consent and maintaining healthcare records in accordance with all applicable laws
- Commitment to strict confidentiality and adherence to security protocols protecting patient information
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, patience, and a genuine compassion for animals
- Excellent communication abilities, with the capacity to explain medical terms and conditions in accessible language
- Availability during evening or weekend shifts to address urgent cases when traditional clinics may be closed
- Reliable access to a desktop computer, a stable internet connection for video calls, and a phone for any necessary client follow-up
