
Role Overview:
Miaplaza is seeking an American Sign Language Curriculum Developer to design and produce educational content for K-12 students, primarily targeting hearing learners. The role involves collaborating with subject-matter experts, the production team, and instructional coaches to create video scripts, assessments, and written materials. Developers are responsible for ensuring that lesson objectives are clear, the content is age-appropriate and accessible, and that the materials effectively meet established educational standards. The position offers flexible scheduling with an expectation of 30–40 hours per week.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience:
- At least 2 years of full-time experience teaching American Sign Language to K-12 hearing students.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in curriculum or lesson material development for American Sign Language (including classroom-developed materials).
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, American Sign Language, ASL-English Interpretation (ASLEI), Deaf Studies, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Understanding of effective lesson design, including clear and measurable objectives.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Proficiency with technology tools such as Google Slides, Sheets, and Docs.
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Additional (Nice-to-Have):
- Professional development or training in curriculum design and pedagogy.
- Experience in instructional design and using screencasting or online teaching tools.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly Rate: $29.00 – $33.00 per hour, based on experience and market alignment.
