
Role Overview
The PDF Remediation Specialist position is part of Progressive’s User Research and Accessibility Services (PURAS) team. The role involves ensuring that business documents meet accessibility standards for customers, agents, and employees who use assistive technologies. Key responsibilities include using tools such as Adobe Pro, Equidox, CommonLook, Colour Contrast Analyzer, and PDF Accessibility Checker; advising on document design and development; providing training on accessibility assessments and remediation; and collaborating with various stakeholders. This is a remote, U.S.-based position.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must have either an Associate’s Degree (or higher) in an IT or Business-related field—such as Management Information Systems or Business Management—with a minimum of four years’ experience in technical tool administration, or a minimum of six years’ related work experience if the educational requirement is not met. Preferred qualifications include:
- Familiarity with WCAG, PDF/UA, and Matterhorn Protocol.
- A solid understanding of Inclusive Design principles and accessibility test strategies.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools.
- Expert-level skills in using assistive technology (e.g., Dragon Naturally Speaking, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver).
- CPACC or IAAP Accessible Document Specialist certifications are considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this position ranges from $89,760 to $105,600. In addition to the base salary, there is a gainshare annual cash incentive program that can provide up to 30% of eligible earnings based on company performance. Benefits include:
