
UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Coding Consultant, IFP Product to join its Individual and Family Plans (IFP) team. This remote role centers on providing expert medical coding guidance to shape policy development, define benefits accurately, and ensure benefit configuration aligns with regulatory standards. The position serves as a subject matter expert in facility, physician, and dental coding practices while supporting cross-functional teams in delivering compliant, efficient healthcare solutions.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants for this role are expected to demonstrate substantial experience and recognized credentials in medical coding.
- Minimum of three years of medical coding experience within health insurance product implementation, policy development, benefit configuration, or claims.
- At least one current coding certification such as CPC, CCS-P, CCS, CPMA, or equivalent.
- Proven ability to analyze regulatory requirements and clinical data to inform coding decisions.
- Experience reviewing clinical coverage in the context of state and federal mandates, certificates of coverage, and reimbursement policies.
- Demonstrated skill in prioritizing tasks and collaborating with diverse work partners.
- Knowledge of commercial medical insurance benefits.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Familiarity with health insurance reimbursement policies, SNOMED, LOINC, NDC, and CDT.
- Prior experience in plan build or configuration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong collaborative and communication skills with attention to detail.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $89,800 to $176,700 annually, dependent on factors such as education, experience, certifications, and local labor market conditions.
